Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
(1) The Range Officer safety training session and new member orientation session have been combined into one class that takes approximately four hours. Several Orientation/Training Classes will be available on a variety of evening and weekend hours to accomodate the widest possible range of schedules. You must attend and complete an orientation and training session before you can be enrolled in OGC. (2) The 18-hour range duty requirement is waived for members serving on active duty with our armed forces and in the case of certain medical conditions. Exemptions for service personnel are granted automatically. Persons seeking medical exemptions must contact the OGC Board of Directors for more information. (3) OGC has both manual and automatic trap machines. The automatic trap machines are set-up for a specific brand and weight of clay bird. If you want to use the automatic trap machines, you must complete a brief training class and then use only the approved birds, which you can buy from the club. If you want to use the manual trap machines, you may use any brand and weight of clay bird you like. During members-only hours, there is no charge for using the trap machines, but use of the trap range is on a first-come, first-served basis. During public hours and on league night, members pay a discounted price per round of 25 birds, as the club supplies both the birds and the people to run the machine. (4) OGC is open to the public from 8am to 4:00pm on weekends and selected national holidays, from the beginning of June to the end of September, and open to the public seven days a week from the beginning of October to the end of firearms deer season (the last Sunday before Thanksgiving). The remaining six months of the year, and all other dates and times not listed as public hours, are members-only time and reserved for members, their families, and members' guests, except when pre-empted for scheduled competitions or training events. Members may also use the club facilities during public hours; they simply must abide by the public-hours rules. In extremely short summary, this means that during public hours:
