Pistol Ranges

Oakdale Gun Club features 25-, 50-, 100-, and for the real optimists, 200-yard pistol ranges. We permit all pistols up to .50 S&W Magnum on our ranges, including all varieties of Thompson Contenders and similar high-powered single-shot pistols.

All our ranges feature covered, weather-protected shooting stations, rock-solid shooting benches, sandbags if you want them, and plenty of room to set up your equipment.

Daily Range Pass: $15

Oakdale Gun Club uses a system similar to a ski-lift ticket. During public hours, each shooter must check in at the Clubhouse and purchase a daily range pass. Once you have a range pass, you may use any open and supervised range on the club grounds. You may even leave the club grounds (say, to get lunch) and return later the same day.

All shooters are required to have hearing and eye protection. If you do not have hearing protection or shooting glasses, foam earplugs and inexpensive shooting glasses are available in the Clubhouse, along with pop, snacks, extra targets, and ammunition in most popular calibers.

Shooters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult before they can legally touch a handgun, and must show their DNR Firearms Safety Certificates before they can purchase a range pass

A little more information:

Oakdale Gun Club does not permit "hot holstering" or "fast draw" shooting during public hours, except during competitions that require this type of shooting. (For example, during USPSA matches.)

Persons with valid Minnesota Carry permits may carry on club grounds.  So long as the gun remains in it's holster at all times, you may carry it with you everywhere you go, including 'down range' while checking targets.  If you would like to fire your carry gun, please inform the Range Safety Officer on the range at which you intend to shoot, then simply treat the holstered firearm just as you would were it in a case - i.e. it may only be removed from it's "case" (holster) when the line is hot, is to remain "uncased" (out of it's holster) until you are ready to leave the range, and may only be "re-cased" (reloaded & placed back into it's holster) when the line is hot.

The 25-, 50-, 100-yard, and 200-meter Ranges are open for unrestricted use.

The Competition Range features both 25- and 50-yard target stands.  PLEASE NOTE: While there are no restrictions on the type or caliber gun that may be fired on our Comp Range, it is asked - as a courtesy - that you use either the 25 yard or 50 yard ranges during member-only hours when Bullseye shooters are practicing.  Thank you.

The "short" range (7-10 yards maximum shooting distance) is available for our members & their guests only at this time.  Please note:  This range is restricted to handguns shooting standard handgun calibers (i.e. no handguns that fire rifle cartridges) and rimfire firearms of any type only (for example, a 22lr AR-15 is acceptable).  There is to be absolutely no centerfire rifles or shotguns of any type used on this range at any time.

Oakdale Gun Club charges by the shooter, not by the hour, the range used, or by the number of guns. Each shooter must purchase and wear a range pass. A "shooter" is any person who plans to shoot a gun. For example:
