Range Duty Signup

All OGC members are required to put in at least 18 hours of work on behalf of the club every year. Most members choose to work these hours as Range Officers on days when the club is open to the public.

Scheduling your range duty
To schedule your 18 hours, contact OGC by email at rangeduty@oakdalegunclub.org or by phone at
651-335-5229.  If you prefer, you can schedule your range duty using the online range duty calendar (described below), in which case you must contact OGC at the above email address to get your user name and password.

Cancelling your range duty
To cancel a scheduled range duty date, please email rangeduty@oakdalegunclub.org at least 3 days prior to your scheduled range duty date.  If you must cancel within 3 days, please contact the Facilities Manager.

Hours
If you are working Range Officer duty, you are required to check-in at the clubhouse no later than 7:00 a.m.. The work day runs to 4:30 p.m., although this may run slightly later if there is an unusual amount of cleanup work to be done.

Lunch
Pack a lunch. Range Officers are not allowed to leave the club grounds to get lunch. There is a refrigerator in the clubhouse for your use.

Hearing Protection
Pack your earmuffs. The club does not have spare earmuffs for the range officers.

Safety Glasses
Pack your safety glasses. The club does not have spare safety glasses for the range officers.

Parking
Members performing Range Officer duty are asked to park in the old lower lot near the granary.

Alternate Duty
All first-year members are required to put in their 18 hours as Range Officers during public hours. After the first year, you may work on alternate duties such as maintenance crews. To find opportunities for alternate duties, contact the Buildings & Grounds Director, the Adopt-A-Highway Director, or the various Match Directors, at the phone numbers provided in your monthly newsletter.

Exemptions
Members on active duty with the U.S. armed forces are exempt from the annual work obligation. Members with medical conditions that prevent their working may receive temporary or permanent exemptions from the work obligation. For more information, contact the OGC Secretary at the phone number provided in your monthly newsletter.

DEADLINE
Your 18-hour work obligation MUST be completed by the time the club closes to the public in late November. If you fail to put in your time by that date, there are NO "make-up" opportunities. Failure to put in your 18 hours will result in either a substantial fine or summary dismissal from membership in the club.

Using the Online Range Duty Calendar

You can access the Oakdale Gun Club online range duty calendar at: http://www.oakdalegunclub.org/scheduler

This is a secure site. You will be prompted to enter your unique user name and password. If you do not have or have forgotten this information, contact OGC by email at rangeduty@oakdalegunclub.org.

When you first access the scheduler, the range duty calendar for the year is displayed. Range duty dates can be scheduled during public hours only, and the days on the calendar are color-coded:

YELLOW
Days on which OGC is not open to the public (and therefore days on which there are no range duty slots).
GREEN
Days on which OGC is open to the public but on which all range duty slots are already taken.
RED
Days on which OGC is open to the public and some range duty slots remain open.
BLUE
Days on which OGC is open to the public and one or more events are scheduled, and at least one event still has open range duty slots.
To sign up for range duty:
  1. Click on a RED or BLUE date. The roster for that date is displayed.

  2. If you want to work on this date, click the [Submit] button at the bottom of the screen.

If the [Submit] button is grayed out, this means one of four things. Either:

    1. the only remaining range duty slot on this date is for a LEAD OFFICER and you have not had the Lead Officer training

    2. there is more than one event on this date and you need to use the "Event(s)" droplist to select a different event

    3. you're already signed up to work on this date

    4. you're a new member and we're already at our limit for the number of new members allowed to work on this date
If the only opening is for a LEAD OFFICER and you want to get trained to work as Lead, please contact the OGC Vice-President.  We can always use more trained Lead Officers.

  3. To sign up for another date in the same month, click on another RED or BLUE date and repeat step 2.

To pick a date in a different month, click the "View Year" link on the left side of the screen to return to the annual calendar.

  4. When you're done picking range duty dates, simply exit the scheduler web page. There is no "Logout" function.

To check your range duty dates:

To see what days you're signed up to work, click the "Range Duty Scheduler" link on the left side of the screen.
To change your password or other information:
To change your password, address, or other member information, click the "Range Duty Scheduler" link on the left side of the screen. Your user record is displayed.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Changing your address here does NOT automatically notify the Club Secretary! If you change your address here, you STILL need to send the Club Secretary a change-of-address notice. If you move and start to wonder why you've stopped getting your newsletters, you've probably forgotten to contact the Club Secretary.

To cancel a scheduled range duty date:
To delete a scheduled range duty date, please email rangeduty@oakdalegunclub.org at least 3 days prior to your scheduled range duty date.  If you must cancel within 3 days, please contact the Facilities Manager.
